As many of you within the online communities will undoubtedly be aware, there is a new kid on the block. Users of the weekly tweetchat hosted by GBDoc will have noticed the hashtag #OurD being used by various members over the past week or so and finally, last Friday, you got the answers as to what it was all about.
For those who haven’t seen it yet, these are the links to the website, Facebook and Twitter accounts. Feel free to browse/Like/Follow – the more the merrier:
Those who have looked over the website, liked the Facebook page and followed the twitter account will have read the mission statement and seen the idea behind the new tweetchat. The basis of #OurD is to create a community that is lead by the community and not a “leader”, but an initiative for ALL to be involved with. As many will note, there are DOC members listed under the “About Us” section of the website (myself included) but, as the website states, the admin members are around to help manage the website, Twitter and Facebook pages – not to lead.
The first tweetchat will be taking place on Tuesday 15th October at 8pm with the topic to be confirmed in the near future via the above mediums. Along with the subject for the night we will also be pre-posting the questions which will be discussed on the night so that people can prepare their answers prior to the chat taking place (this was highlighted personally to myself by someone within the DOC as they find it hard to keep up on the current chat night).
I hope those within the DOC take this new initiative to heart and with an open-mind. We want Our Diabetes to be open for everyone to be involved within and welcome your comments/suggestions via the website, Facebook or Twitter. If you fancy hosting your own tweetchat please get in touch with your ideas/topics as this forum has been created for YOU.
Thanks for reading. I hope to chat with many of you regularly through #OurD.
